Understanding the Process

What is the AEIS and S-AEIS?
(And Why English Matters First)

The Admissions Exercise for International Students (AEIS) and Supplementary AEIS (S-AEIS) are centralised admission processes by the Singapore Ministry of Education (MOE) for international students seeking enrolment into mainstream primary and secondary schools.

📅
Main AEIS — January Admission
Held in September
For admissions in January of the following academic year.
Eligible grades: Primary 2–5 & Secondary 1–3
📅
S-AEIS — April/May Admission
Held in February / March
For admissions in April/May of the same academic year.
Eligible grades: Primary 2–4 & Secondary 1–2
⚠️ MOE's Mandatory Two-Step Process for Primary Applicants
1
The English Prerequisite First

Your child must first achieve a specific passing score in the Cambridge English Qualifications (CEQ). This step is non-negotiable and must be completed before anything else.

2
Then: The AEIS Mathematics Exam

Only after submitting a successful CEQ score can a student register for the MOE's AEIS or S-AEIS Mathematics test in Singapore.

MOE Requirements

Accepted Cambridge English (CEQ)
Levels by Age

Your child must take the correct CEQ test based on their age as of 1 January in the year of admission, and achieve the MOE's minimum required score.

Age Group School Level Required Cambridge Exam MOE Minimum Score Range
Ages 7 – 9 Primary 2 & 3 Candidates A2 Key for Schools (KET) 100 – 130
Ages 10 – 12 Primary 4 & 5 Candidates B1 Preliminary for Schools (PET) 140 – 160
⚠️ The CEQ test must be taken within 12 months before the submission month of your AEIS or S-AEIS application. The official Cambridge certificate must be uploaded at the point of MOE online registration. Plan accordingly — results take 4 to 6 weeks to be issued after the exam.

We are incredibly proud of our students' achievements, including those who have successfully gone on to secure the highly prestigious ASEAN Scholarship. Their success is a testament to the high-level English literacy, reading comprehension, and vocabulary built through our Cambridge English programme.

🎯 KLC's Role — What We Do & Don't Do
We DO: Provide world-class Cambridge English training — building the English literacy, reading comprehension, and vocabulary skills required to excel in MOE prerequisite tests.
We DO: Prepare students specifically for the A2 Key for Schools (KET) and B1 Preliminary for Schools (PET) exams and administer them officially.
We do NOT: Provide AEIS Mathematics tuition or handle MOE scholarship / AEIS application processes directly.
Important: No educational centre can guarantee admission into Singapore mainstream schools or the ASEAN Scholarship. Placements are determined solely by the Singapore MOE based on test performance and school vacancy availability.
