What makes it scientifically proven?
The method used in MasterKey Phonics is not just any "phonics" teaching on the market, but Synthetic Phonics, globally recognized by reading science research as the most effective approach.
Phonics teaching actually has several schools of thought. Analytic Phonics starts with whole words, guiding children to analyze and compare letter patterns; Whole Word (Look-and-Say) requires children to memorize the overall shape of the word, relying on visual memory to "recognize" words. Conversely, Synthetic Phonics starts from the smallest unit of sound — first teaching children the specific sound corresponding to each letter or letter combination (Grapheme-Phoneme Correspondence, or GPC), and then teaching them to "synthesize" or blend these sounds one by one to sound out complete words. This is where the name "Synthetic" comes from.
Over the past few decades, extensive research on early reading education in English-speaking countries has yielded highly consistent results: systematic, explicit teaching of synthetic phonics produces readers with more accurate decoding, stronger spelling, and better comprehension than whole-word memorization or context-guessing methods. Because of this, education departments in several countries, including the UK, have mandated Synthetic Phonics as the official teaching method for early English literacy. Phonemic Awareness
Children must first be able to hear, identify, and manipulate individual sounds in spoken words. This is the auditory foundation necessary before learning phonics and the starting point for all subsequent decoding abilities.
